Family is important in both life and in business. Our agency has the privilege of belonging to a nationally recognized brand called Hospice Partners of America. Hospice Partners of America operates local hospice programs in six states with the following mission: No one dies alone, afraid or in pain. We believe that end-of-life care is a critical component in the lifespan of all individuals. When someone has a prognosis of 6 months or less, it becomes our passion to ensure that these individuals receive an unparalleled level of care and service.
While we do have the financial support and the business acumen of a large national corporation, we also believe that hospice is best provided at a local level. This is a unique business model that allows overall backing and management from our National Support Center in Birmingham, AL while care is based on the needs of the individual communities and partners we serve in each local office. For example, some locations have a larger Veteran population, and we allow for these locations to create unique programs to meet the needs of these heroes. Whereas others may have a larger indigent population requiring more charity patients or additional options in working with payors.
Regardless of local needs we strive for nothing less than excellence and constantly monitor the quality metrics to back that up. The hospice benefit has been a part of Medicare since the early 1980s and requires a certain level of hospice care. Our goal is to far exceed the expected hospice benefit and to do whatever it takes when it matters most. To do so, we have instituted revolutionary programs to benefit our patients. Our Peaceful Passing Program was created to ensure that, when possible, a member of the hospice team is always sitting vigil at the bedside supporting patients and caregivers as the time of death approaches. Our Veterans Initiative Program was created to ensure that our Veteran patients receive all the benefits that they earned, while meeting the unique care requirements that their time in service has created. Our Wish Program was created to make sure that every patient can resolve unfinished business or create lasting memories with loved ones. Our Partners in Care Program was created to ensure that the needs of our referral sources are just as important to our business plan as the needs of our own agencies. Our Complementary Alternative Therapies program was created to complement the superior level of clinical care already provided through the hospice benefit and can include things from massage therapy and pet therapy to music thanatology and reiki.
Our mission is to provide hospice and palliative care to all members of our communities in a way that is unlike any other end-of-life care provider. We are constantly evolving to achieve this mission and help further the ever-expanding need for end-of-life care.
