Hospice Partners of America selected Harrison’s Hope as one of its two 3rd Quarter Exceptional Story Runner Ups for care they provided for one of their recent patients. Each quarter, Hospice Partners of America asks staff members to submit stories of exceptional care that was provided to patients and families, and selects one winning team and two runner ups. The Harrison’s Hope Twin Falls team was one of this quarter’s runner ups. Congrats to our Executive Director Toma Bartlett and our Hospice Consultant Heidi Walker for their tireless commitment to their community.

Recently, Mountain State Tumor Institute (MTSI) contacted Harrison’s Hope about a special patient they had. This patient was living in Idaho but hoped to spend her final days at home in Florida. After discussing the situation, the Harrison’s Hope team quickly began coordinating this patient’s admission to hospice care and planning her trip to Florida.

Soon the team discovered that the patient also needed to bring along her partner and their three dogs. With the help of the Dream Foundation and other community members, Toma and Heidi made plans to fly the patient and her sister to Florida. Her partner and the dogs would drive down later.

After nine days, the patient finally arrived in Florida. And seven days later…..the rest of the family made it too – the three dogs and all!

Harrison’s Hope was honored to be able to coordinate this final move for one of their patients. There is nothing more rewarding for our team than to help grant end-of-life wishes. It is our priority to make sure patients enjoy life to its fullest, even when the end may be near.

Thank you Twin Falls team for sharing your Exceptional Story!
